The majority of my work carries a coastal theme and this is demonstrated not
only in the paintings themselves but also in their driftwood frames. I regularly
go beach combing to gather suitable driftwood. It's quite an endeavour to
collect but well worth it. Sometimes I return with nothing and other times I
have more than I can carry.
The ocean does amazing things to wood. The sea generally eats the surface
grain and I tidy it up revealing its wonderful contours and texture. Then I
sculpt it to a tasteful finish all the while seeking to bring out its own natural
beauty.
